June 12th, 2017, Omaha, NE — May was a fun month for Azria Health Montclair! The entire team celebrated the American Health Care Association’s (AHCA) National Nursing Home Week (NNHW) from May 14th to May 21st, a week when skilled nursing care facilities throughout the country celebrate the important role that nursing staff provide for seniors and those with rehabilitation and therapeutic needs in our communities. Each year celebrates with a new theme and this year’s theme was The Spirit of America.
Every day at Azria Health Montclair had something new and exciting to help celebrate this year’s theme. Throughout the week, staff and residents enjoyed events like “gifts to get” bingo where everyone was a winner, a BBQ luncheon, a Western day with popcorn and snacks, root beer floats and homemade apple pie, a visit from Omaha Coffee Truck for “Thanks a Latte” day and ethnic food sampling from Kolache Factory with yummy Mediterranean hummus dips.
Plus, we hosted a fundraising event to support the local community. “So many steps have been taken to help make America great,” said Administrator Roz Burke. “In honoring that, we had a used shoe drive and collected shoes for the Soles4Souls charity. Our shoes represented the many feet and steps that make America great. We are proud that now those very shoes will help others many, many miles away!”
Residents are at the heart of each Azria Health facility, where providing excellent care is the top priority for all of our skilled nursing staff. Life Enrichment Coordinator Dani Hearron said, “We truly do embody a unique and vibrant spirit of community for and with our residents, volunteers and team. ‘The Spirit of America’ was and continues to be represented daily through acts of kindness, generosity and compassion from our residents of all different faiths and walks of life, with our team at the very heart of our Azria Health Montclair family.”
